FORMAL DECLARATION OF RAJA DE MANQUEHUA – POZA AZUL
NATURE SANCTUARY
The natural monuments, Raja de Manquehua and Poza Azul, have formally been declared as a joint Nature Sanctuary in Salamanca after being featured in the Official Journal of Chile on June 8th, 2018.
Both the Farming Community of Chalinga and Minera Tres Valles have carried out this initiative, and the declaration process has now been finalized in accordance with agreement No. 5 set forth by the Council of Ministers for Sustainability, all of whom had unanimously decided to create the Nature Sanctuary of Raja de Manquehua – Poza Azul on January 22nd, 2018.
The Farming Community of Chalinga, who is the proprietor of the 2,242 hectares of the Sanctuary, is responsible for administering this protected area and will act under the supervision of the Ministry of the Environment. The management and development of this site aim to preserve all the geological, water, plant, animal and archaeological resources that pertain to the zone.
