The Operations Director emphasized the importance of this type of exercise. “This is the most effective way to prepare for the occurrence of an emergency of this type. Those of us who are part of the organization must know how to act in situations like this,” he pointed out.

The drill exercise reflects MTV’s commitment to the safety of its workers and collaborators, strengthening knowledge of disaster prevention and preparedness.

The Operations Department will continue to promote actions that protect the integrity of its work teams and ensure an effective and efficient response to potential emergencies.

BASIC CARDIO PULMONARY RESUSCITATION AND USE OF A DEFIBRILLATOR IN AN EMERGENCY

The Three Valleys Mining Company adheres to its Occupational Health and Safety Policy by providing its personnel with training in occupational health matters. They have successfully trained and certified 19 workers through an external technical organization in the course of “Basic Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Use of a Defibrillator in an Emergency”.

The company is committed to training 100% of its organization by the year 2024, through the knowledge of already accredited workers.

It’s noteworthy that the company has in-site two AED (automated external defibrillator) equipments, which will be placed in the First Aid Room area and in the Control Room of the SX Area.

By doing so, MTV (Three Valleys Mining Company) is complying with the requirement defined by the 56th Decree of the Regulations, which obligates all establishments and/or venues to have portable AED equipment as per Law 21.156 of 2020.

The course’s purpose is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify a “Sudden Cardio Arrest” and perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers, along with the correct use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED) in an emergency.

SECOND ANNUAL TRAINING DAY FOR MINERA TRES VALLES’ EMERGENCY BRIGADE

SECOND ANNUAL TRAINING DAY FOR MINERA TRES VALLES’ EMERGENCY BRIGADE

On August 1st, 2023, the second annual training day focusing on retraining and applied exercises for the MTV emergency brigade was held.

This activity was carried out by two experts in emergency systems from the third-party company called “CONO-SER, Asesoría y Capacitación”, who twice a year will certify the quality of the training.

It should be noted that 16 brigade members participated in this activity, incorporating four new members, two of which, women. MTV would like to highlight the outstanding participation of those two new brigade members, who always showed great enthusiasm in carrying out the scheduled activities.

Congratulations on joining this important team!

On this occasion, the Conference was divided into three sections:

1.- Theoretical reinstruction and training regarding the emergency control systems.
2.- Retraining on fires control techniques.
3.- Applied fire extinguishing exercises and vehicle extrication of an injured operator.

These exercises allowed us to measure the response times of the brigade members and emergency team in an unforeseen event, evaluate emergency communications and the leadership of crew leaders, as well as their teamwork and collaboration amongst the members.

Finally, various activities will be carried out monthly with internal staff of the Company to reinforce and measure the response capabilities of our brigade members, which through a coordinated and well-directed plan will ensure a successful outcome in the case of emergency.

TRAINING DAY FOR MINERA TRES VALLES´ EMERGENCY BRIGADE

TRAINING DAY FOR MINERA TRES VALLES´  EMERGENCY BRIGADE

In January of this year, Minera Tres Valles’ Emergency Brigade added new members, with a training session being held that allowed 19 professionals from different areas to be certified, appreciating a strong female presence in this select group of brigade members.

The training activity was divided into two parts: the first consisted of a theoretical training, where members were trained in primary care for traumatized personnel and how to react when facing an event where the physical safety of onsite workers is at risk, as well as the use of different rescue techniques and firefighting elements. The second part involved a planned fire simulation exercise and the rescue of an injured person from inside a wrecked vehicle. The objectives of these activities focused on the efficiency of response to an event, teamwork, leadership, communication, the use of fire safety equipment, and medical attention issued for the injured.

This endeavor invites us to continue training on a permanent basis, favoring the constant development of brigade members’ potential as well as being increasingly better prepared for possible emergencies at Minera Tres Valles.
